An important style attribute of a shirt is the form of the collar. A hundred years ago the stand-up collar was up-to-date, the recent shirts today have a turn down collar, which conceals the narrow part of a tie. Only shirts for evening purposes show particulate stand-up collars, like the "Choker", also known as wing collar.
